THNK Welcomed Canadian Minister for Innovation Visit

Canadian Minister of Industry James Moore visited THNK, the Amsterdam School of Creative Leadership, During Europe Innovation Trade Tour

Amsterdam, April 4, 2014 - Industry Minister and Minister Responsible for British Columbia, James Moore, joined by a distinguished Canadian business delegation, visited THNK on March 26, 2014 during his trade mission and tour of Europe exploring innovation. The minister and THNK faculty celebrated an arrangement to open a new Vancouver campus of THNK, its first-ever global expansion, scheduled for fall 2014.

THNK breeds innovation through growing and supporting the next generation of creative leaders who will impact our world. The cadre of near 150 creative leaders from 50 countries comes to THNK to invest in their own leadership but also expand innovation horizons. Minister Moore’s visit included a tour and introduction to several THNK participants together with a talk about a new THNK school in Vancouver in Sept 2014.

THNK, founded in Amsterdam in 2009, melds the critical thinking and systems perspective of business school with the experiential human-centered approach of design thinking or D school, with a heavy dose of coaching to help participants not only come up with big ideas, but to make them happen. Two class participants, Lee Feldman and Sarah Dickinson, have found their own inspiration in recognizing the potential for such a school to have an impact on creative leadership in Canada.

Feldman has led many new initiatives including the start-up of IKEA design in Canada to building up the global digital agency Blast Radius, starting from his living room in Kits after graduation from the Vancouver Film School in the 90s. He’s now setting his sights on establishing THNK in Vancouver.  Feldman shares that: “The people we’ve met so far all say the same thing. This will be an incredible and needed new addition to leadership in this part of the world. And it will signal to the city and the rest of the world that Vancouver is a creative and innovation capital.”

Sarah Dickinson, the Director of THNK Vancouver said: “This is a 21st century city. One that is experimental, culturally diverse, connected to urban and nature and packed with emerging leaders with big hearts and even bigger deas. We're excited to cultivate this potential and elevate the city as a leader in innovative, bold solutions for the world’s biggest societal challenges.".
