Circles

We are excited to introduce Community Coaching Circles as a new offering to the THNK Community. Whether you have just completed the EMERGE program and want to continue your Circle practice or you participated in a THNK program years ago and want to connect with like-minded community members, Circles are open to anyone who has completed a THNK program.

Over the past year, THNK has successfully translated immersive learning journeys to a virtual space, with a particular focus on ensuring that our program participants would still form powerful bonds with one another despite not sharing the same physical environment. We began to incorporate coaching circles into our new online programs with the result that those sessions have become some of the most memorable and impactful sessions in our participants’ learning journeys. Participants have described Circles sessions as “powerful,” “reenergizing,” and “an amazing support system.”

Description

Coaching Circles are an opportunity for participants to share professional challenges they may be facing and get feedback from a group of peers. The sessions follow a highly structured format, giving space for challenges, questions, stories, and reflections.

Circle members are not there to give advice; instead, Circles are rooted in elements of Peer Coaching, Deep Listening, Insightful Questions, and Storytelling in order to guide the presenter into new ways of thinking about their own challenge. Participants will share stories that will help the presenter look at their challenge in a different way or gain new perspectives on the type of problem they are facing.

Sharing in this format has the added benefit that everyone in the group comes out of the session with their own personal takeaways, regardless of whether they shared their own challenge during that session or simply listened to the challenges of others.

Community Circles Are For:

Note: When you register, you will have the option to join a Circle group with peers of similar work and leadership experience or you can opt for a more diverse group that mixes alumni from various THNK programs.

Practical Details

Community Circles will run in 3-month cycles. Sessions take place twice per month for a total of 6 sessions per cycle. Sessions take place on Thursdays.*

At the end of the cycle, participants may choose to extend their membership and continue for the next 3-month cycle. Depending how many members of the Circle remain for the next cycle, the group may stay the same or participants may be assigned to a new group.

New Circle members will have completed a mandatory Circle onboarding session before joining an existing Circle group. Community Circle participants will not have to train new members on the format.

*In an effort to avoid major holidays, sessions may not always be bi-weekly and occasionally the day of the week will be shifted to accommodate the holiday calendar. The schedule for each cycle will be shared ahead of time and any day-changes will be noted in bold.
