Amina Khalil
THRIVE - Class 05
I am a trained economist with a Bachelor of Art from the American University in Cairo, Egypt. In 2014, I graduated with a Master of Science in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where I have appreciated a multidisciplinary, and problem-oriented perspective on environmental and international development issues and intertwined societal challenges. Today, I am part of a homegrown private equity firm based in Egypt’s capital with a mission to unlock growth and build lasting legacies. Meeting visionary individuals in my work with portfolio companies and investors has offered me an exceptional avenue for learning and self-improvement that I consider essential to my becoming the leader I aspire to be.
As a leader, I value the opportunity to create connections, driving change and innovation for greater, more sustainable impact in the future.
As a German and Egyptian national who studied in the United Kingdom, I have a particular appreciation for the essential importance of cross-cultural exchange and learning. I believe my international exposure contributed to my creativity, flexibility and openness in effectively dealing with challenges inherent in the process of making a difference in the lives of less-privileged people living in some of the poorest regions in the world. Furthermore, my local experience living and working in a North African country with a Middle Eastern identity has provided me with skills that enable me to recognize and understand various nuances of development and sustainable impact creation.
I am particularly interested in the multidimensional nature of human interactions and enjoy exploring new cultures and countries through traveling.
