Helping other people gives my life meaning. Born in a doctor’s family I guess I couldn’t escape my genes. I was trained as a digestive surgeon in Amsterdam, Netherlands. During my training, I learned that a doctor needs a support system to be able to perform his job. This was when I got interested in running an organization.
From 2003 till 2010 we lived in Spain and this was in many ways a powerful period in my life. I learned to be a mother, I wrote a book about pooh for children, learned Spanish and found my way as a surgeon in a foreign country.
When we came back we founded a medical center specialized in proctology and pelvic floor surgery. Up until now I still work as a surgeon and feel it is important to continue because it keeps me close to the core. Unfortunately, I got divorced but the process I went through gave me important insights as well.
I like to spend my time off work with my kids. I enjoy doing sports like cycling, running and am a fanatic skier. I am also crazy about dancing.
