Dr. Sarah Tischer
THRIVE - Class 04
Ever since I came into contact with the topic of corruption through my studies more than ten years ago, I have been driven by the question of why people behave unethically and irresponsibly and what organisations can do to strengthen ethical and responsible behaviour.
I am particularly fascinated by this topic's different perspectives and many facets. Initially, I worked as a senior research associate for several years and wrote my dissertation on this topic. However, I eventually wanted to put this knowledge to practical use and try to make a difference.
I have been working for the world's largest green coffee trader for the past six years, managing both the compliance department and the sustainability strategy. It's not just my work that excites me, but also the coffee industry. Coffee is a small pleasure for many, while providing a livelihood for countless people worldwide. Sustainability is essential to ensure that coffee will continue to be available to us in the future. At the same time, as an essential global soft commodity, the coffee industry can make a major contribution to sustainable development.
