My experience and deep interests:
I am based in: Maryland

As an observer and maker, I am always searching for process - how does it work? Translating process into programs, or events, or objects that intersect art and design with industry or learning is where I find true purpose and happiness.

As Director of two graduate programs - the Business of Art and Design, and Information Visualization - at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland, I am able create academic programs and residencies that blend creative knowledge, passions and ideas with industry skills and expertise to help students create new futures for themselves. My interest in creative commerce carries over to my volunteer work as Board Vice President at The Women’s Exchange, a 135+ year old non-profit aimed at “inspiring a community of women to discover and reach their potential” through creative and social entrepreneurship.

Prior to MICA, my education and public outreach work at Space Telescope Science Institute, home of the Hubble Space Telescope, brought together beauty and science in truly out of this world ways. As grant manager of an innovative science education grant program (IDEAS), I worked with research astronomers and educators to fund and create new formal and informal science programs and materials for K-12 schools, science centers, planetariums, and museums.

I am also a mom to a wonderfully imaginative daughter and have gone back into the studio to rediscover my ceramic roots.
