Leticia Born
EMERGE - Class 03
I was born in Brazil and moved around in my early years, getting my fingers wrinkled in the water of the beachside of Pernambuco and a couple of years later, learning how to speak English with my classmates riding the yellow school bus in Pittsburgh, United States. But most part of my life I’ve spent in Sao Paulo, with a tw0-year period in Amsterdam, where I completed a Master’s in International Development Studies, and a couple of months in Amman, Jordan, where I researched state-society dynamics, gender equality, and civil society formation.
I’m passionate about meeting new people and hearing their stories. I enjoy recognizing others' unique values and making sure they also see them with their own eyes. My career started as a professional in the Journalism and PR sector in 2008, but I realized my motivation was to support leaders and non-profit organizations in fulfilling their goals.
Currently, I am a program manager in an international philanthropic organization, focused on early education and childhood development, continuously trying to learn how to develop a diversity and equity lens to the work, a fundamental mission I have and truly believe in.
When I am not working, I take some time to read in the company of my two cats or enjoying a sunny day soaking in the ocean.
